Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Push-Up Liner Review

benefit they're real push-up liner review

Happy Wednesday everyone! I’ve got a very exciting review today, I was able to get my hands on the new Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Push-Up Liner a bit early! This new product isn’t available in store until June 27 but I have a full review and makeup look for you today.

The Benefit They’re Real Push Up Liner is pretty revolutionary as it’s a gel liner in a pen form. No pot or brush required for this bad boy!

Packaging:

The applicator is a silicon AccuFlex tip instead of a brush or sponge. When you take the Push-Up Liner out of the packaging it has this orange stopper in the applicator which needs to be removed.

Applicator:

The silicon tip is angled which allows it to more tightly hug the curves of your lash line!

Formula:

The instructions say to twist once for enough product to line both eyes. I found I needed two clicks for enough products (which is how much you can see in the photo above).

Less is more with this liner, so while I did find I needed a bit more gel to complete both my eyes I would NOT suggest doing what I did. I dispensed too much product out of the applicator at once and things got messy. There should only be a slight amount of the gel visible, so next time I will only do one click and use that before dispensing more product.

You can create a thick or thin line depending on how you use it. It does allow you to get a straighter line than a brush would and the silicon tip glides across the skin without pulling.

Here’s my final look!

Who said 28 year olds can’t have pink hair and wear pigtails? WHO??

Pros:

  • It’s a gel liner without the “pot and brush” so it’s easily portable and compact
  • Pen shape makes it very easy to hold
  • Formula is super black and pigmented
  • Very little product is needed to complete each eye

Cons:

  • It only comes in one colour
  • I found it difficult to get a sharp point on my winged liner, even when I used the suggested “stamping” method. I find a pointed sponge tip works best for achieving a very crisp winged look
  • It did not reduce the need for tight-lining. It got a lot closer to my lash line than others I’ve used but there was still a small gap

There are definitely more things that I love about this liner than things I don’t. For $29 I think this is a great value for a great product and I’d recommend it. It will be available at Shoppers Drugmart and Sephora on June 27th! Will you be trying out this liner?

Even though you said that the liner was hard to get precise, it looks SO on point to me! PS… pigtails are toooo cute on you :D

If they come out in a dark brown instead of black I will definitely try it. I love Benefit and have rarely ever found a product of theres that I didn’t like.

Yes! Not everyone likes black liner, so hopefully they will come out with some other colour options. Your makeup always looks soooo good, I can only imagine the cool looks you’d create with this bad boy :)

Great review you have here! I’m probably going to skip on this but the product looks SO beautiful on you! May have to reconsider to get it after my spending ban!

You are too cute with your pigtails. I actually can’t wait to get my hands on this. I’m such a spazz when it comes to putting on eyeliner, so I love to try any products that make my life easier :p

Wow this actually looks amazing. I’ve been hearing so much about this product so I’m pretty excited to look into it when it comes out.

As everyone else has already mentioned, your liner looks super duper fab! :)

I’ve been so curious about this! There’s been so much hype around it, so great to hear such a thorough, balanced review! Love the lipstick you’re wearing here too :)

This looks like a great liner. I’ve only recently started using liquid ilners in marker and pen formats, and this sounds like it would be just as easy. With a very black product, which is sometimes hard to find.
