I never thought I’d see the day when I would be talking about “brow game” and buying products to make sure they are always “on fleek” (did I use that term right?) Until a few years ago the only thing I did was pluck my unibrow and kept it moving. Those days are long gone!
You can find a variety of products to line, fill and shape your brows so they become the perfect accent to your makeup look. Pomades, gels, pencils, powders and markers are just the beginning! I’ve been alternating between brow gel and brow pencils lately, sometimes even combining the two. These are the two products I’ve been using (and loving) recently!
Dior Diorshow Brow Gel ($30 CAD) in blonde
This is a tinted gel that comes out between the silicon bristles and is brushed on to the brows to add slight colour and definition. Another great option is Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow. Gimme Brow is a gel that contains tiny fibers that mimic hair so it actually adds volume to your brows.
Dior Diorshow Brow Gel doesn’t have any fibres in it so you aren’t getting any fullness but I like the slight colour it adds and it holds the hair in place without becoming crunchy (something I notice with Gimme Brow occasionally). If you already have a decent shape this will be all you’ll need to add some “brow wow” factor.
The gel feels really wet at first but it dries with a really natural finish. One “click” dispenses enough product for each brow and the built in brush keeps rogue hairs in place! This is my lazy day quick eyebrow fix.
Dior Diorshow Brow Styler Ultra-Fine Precision Brow Pencil ($30 CAD) in Universal Dark Brown
Some days I want to fill in my brows and give them a more polished shape. Enter the brow pencil!
This one has a super fine tip that claims to matches most shades of brown. I used a very light hand applying it as my brows are fairly light and I was concerned this “dark brown” colour would look unnatural on me. But it matched my natural brows really nicely! It also has a brush on the other end for blending. A similar product that I like is the Anastasia Brow Wiz. It comes in 10 different shades but it’s can be challenging to get your hands on if you live in Canada.
You’ll need a little practice and a light hand to apply a brow pencil properly but once you get the hang of it you will love the results. You can create the shape you want by adding an arch or adding fullness if your brows are naturally thin. It takes a bit more time and precision but the final look is much more defined.

Below is my final look with only the brow gel. Since my eye makeup was quite simple I didn’t feel the need to pencil in my brows. I still can’t decide which I like better, I keep switching back and forth depending on my mood.
That’s the great thing about makeup, there are so many options! Whether you want dramatic shaped brows or a super natural look there is a brow product out there for you!
Do you fill in your brows or go au naturel? Let me know in the comments!
