I recently went to an Arbonne event in Toronto where they were promoting their new Arbonne Lip Collection. The glosses, lipsticks and liners from this collection are all meant to hydrate and plump lips to help them appear fuller and more youthful. I was given a goodie bag with a few things to try out and now that I’ve been test driving them for a few weeks I wanted to share my thoughts!
I’ve used Arbonne skincare before but I am fairly new to their makeup. Similar to their skincare they focus on plant-based botanical ingredients. This lip collection uses fruit extracts such as watermelon and apple as well as hyaluronic acid add moisture to the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines. But wait – do I really need lip products that focus on reducing fine lines?
Let’s be real. I’m pushing 30 and recently had a conversation with a friend about how our lips are no longer as plump and defined as they used to be. Fine lines have made it easy for lipstick to “bleed” outside the lip line and that, darling, is no bueno.
Lip Liner in Fuchsia ($24)
This liner contains Jojoba and Olive oil which Arbonne says will increase appearance of lip volume. I did find it applied nicely and didn’t tug on my lips though it was a little drying. I find all lip liners drying though, so that’s nothing new! The colour is beautiful and is perfectly matched with the lipstick shade. It had good staying power even after eating and drinking!
Oh Arbonne, you’ve really done it! First of all, this lipstick smells like fruit. And it’s not that chemically sweet fruit smell that a lot of cosmetics have. The colour payoff is insane, so if you like subtle colour this shade is not for you! They have a ton of other shades that are more wearable but Peony is a bright fuchsia that makes a statement.
It lasts for hours (4+) and I’m someone who is constantly chewing on my lips. The lip liner and lipstick together offer super long-lasting results. I do feel like this lipstick makes my lips look more full and smooth as well. Nothing cray – we’re not getting Kylie Jenner levels here but it’s noticeable to me! I like the satin/glossy finish as well.
So…this was my least favourite of the three. The gloss is kind of goopy and messy to work with and it tastes bad if you accidentally lick your lips. The smell is the same yummy scent as the lipstick, but I can’t overlook the formula flaws on this one.
Here is my makeup look using the liner and lipstick!
If you are looking for a vibrant and long lasting lipstick give this one a try. I love it and already want to purchase more shades from this collection!
* You can purchase Arbonne from your local consultant (ask around, someone you know probably sells it!) or online.
