Have you ever heard of Mala Beads? If you love yoga and meditation odds are this is not the first time you are hearing about them. They were introduced to me by Angela Peter from Hol: Fit a few years ago and I have been fascinated with them ever since.

What are Mala Beads?

I currently have two malas from Tiny Devotions (thanks Mom!) and while I mostly wear them as an accessory, I do love that the beads and stones that make up these beautiful necklaces have meaning. While I don’t actively meditate, once a while throughout the day I will remember the intention of the guru stone and take a moment to stop and think about it. As a classic “worry wart” I find this comes out most when I am wearing my Amazonite Mala.

This necklace is the shorter of the two at 36 inches. This exact mala is no longer available, but they have a similar one on the website here. The Amazonite mala promotes universal love and alleviates fear and anxiety. This stone has been said to calm one’s emotions and ease nerves. I find myself holding on to the guru stone (the Amazonite) of this necklace a lot in times of stress, often without realizing it!

This mala is slightly longer at 37.5 inches, which I love because I generally like to wear long pendant necklaces. This mala is meant to help with the intention of reach your goals. It is also said to support to the soul during emotional processes. I know I don’t practice yoga and mediation, but if something this beautiful can also remind me to stop, breathe and be calm I am all for it! It’s all about mind set, and when I put on this mala it reminds me to be aware of my mood and try to be as positive as I possibly can!

Tiny Devotions is a Canadian company that works with mala makers who hand make each one with love, devotion and intention. You can pick these lovely “good vibrations” malas all over Ontario!

Hmm this is interesting! I used to be a semi-hardcore bikram yogi and just got lazy (monthly fees were pretty steep too).
I like the blue one, very pretty :)
