Soooooo here we are. I’m a 30 year old writing about buying a lip gloss created by an 18 year old. An 18 year old that’s a millionaire, might I add. Call me basic. Call me crazy! But I wanted to try the Kylie Cosmetics Koko K Gloss and find out for myself if it’s as great as people say. I am not a big fan of nude lipsticks as they usually make me look totally washed out so I was excited to see Kylie added more pink tones to her collection. On the website, Koko K is described as a pale pink.
The first road block I ran into was the price. As a beauty and makeup lover I am not opposed to paying $15 for a lip gloss. The problem for me is the shipping. It’s a flat rate of $8.95! So this $15 gloss ended up costing me $23.95. But I figured if it’s as amazing, pigmented and long-lasting as the interwebs tells me it is, I wouldn’t be that upset about it. I mean, I love the Buxom Full-On Lip Polishes and they are $24 each, right?
My order came with the gloss and a post card that had a message from Kylie printed on it. On the other side of the post card was a photo of Kylie in what appears to be a mug shot with a sign that says her name is “KNGKYLIE” (I looked this up and apparently her nickname is King Kylie?). Me no likey. Maybe let’s not glorify being arrested?
The signature “drips” are on both the gloss and the box it comes in. Kylie’s packaging is definitely on point! It’s cute without looking too juvenile and it’s consistent across all of her lip products.
As I mentioned, Koko K is described as a pale pink on the website. It’s a lovely shade, but it’s definitely more of a dusty rose on me. Or even a nude pink (there are definitely some brown undertones). I am on the fair side so maybe that’s why it’s pulling darker on me? In the tube it looks pastel, but once I applied it I found it looked a few shades darker.
The smell is very sweet, almost like chocolate or candy. I’m not sure exactly how to describe it, other than very sweet. I actually really like it, but if perfumes bother you this might be a no-go. I was applying it in the back seat of the car and James was driving and could smell it in the front seat. So beware – the scent it strong!
I like the wand, it’s short enough that you can apply it without going way outside of your lips. It picks up enough product for your top and bottom lips, so one “dip” into the tube is all you need. When I experimented with applying two coats it became super goopy and got all over my teeth and generally made a big ol’ mess. Don’t do it!
Overall I really like this gloss! The colour is unique and unlike anything else I have in my current makeup collection. It’s also a colour that could easily transition from summer to fall. The formula is smooth and glossy but it can get goopy fast if you don’t use a light hand. It lasted a few hours on me which is actually a bit longer than most lip glosses I’ve used. So is it worth the $23.95 price tag?
I would say if you are a fan of Kylie Jenner or a serious makeup lover this is totally worth the price. It’s a nice, hydrating formula that smells yummy (in my opinion) and is fairly long-lasting. And compared to other brands like theBalm or Buxom the price is comparable for a similar-performing product.
However, if you’re not in the mood to fork over that kind of cash for a lippie you can find dupes for most of Kylie’s lipsticks and glosses. I think Nyx Lip Lingerie in Embellishment is a good match for the Koko K liquid lip and it’s only $7!
Would you try anything from Kylie Cosmetics? What’s your favourite shade from her collection? Let me know in the comments!

This is definitely a pretty shade! But I am so not a fan of the Kardashians that I personally wouldn’t buy them. I’m glad you like it though! 🙂

The Kardashians are definitely controversial! It really is a nice shade, I just wish the scent was a little less strong :/

This colour looks great on you!
I’d like to try one of her lippies just cause all of the hype around them.

I am curious about the liquid lipsticks but I tend to find most liquid lipsticks really drying. Definitely more of a lip gloss fan!

I love your review. Love how honest you are. You look beautiful no matter what lipgloss you wear. one day I hope to try it but that is so expensive. wowza! I’m not into the Kardashians that much but I’ve been seeing so many people talk about the lip products and some are positive some are negative. I’m definitely going to try the NYX dupe. 😀 I love Dupes. hehehe Love your post! Fantastic review!

Aw, thank you so much! I love dupes too 🙂 The actual price of the gloss isn’t bad, but that $9 shipping is crazy.

I have been humming and hawing over whether or not to place an order for Kylie Cosmetics and this is convincing me that I need to. I love this shade on you!

I just made my first Kylie purchase. I was reluctant, but they got rave reviews from my friends. I am fair too so ordered Candy K and Heir metallic. The site had a great deal on with free products for every $25 . Here’s hoping I like them.
